Tree Planting in Port Hills of Christchurch on World Environment Day 2010

This year’s World Environment Day theme is “Many Species. One Planet. One Future”. As usual in each winter season, Ellen and Amelia from 2WAYS Co. join in tree planting around Christchurch parks and reserves.

Together with other 45 volunteers, we plant 370 NZ native trees in Port Hills of Christchurch, New Zealand on 5 June 2010.

Keeping this country beautiful, waiting for your visit.

Celebration of Sant Jordi's Day (St George’s Day) – Catalan Day of Love, Books & Roses 2010

’10 Celebration of Sant Jordi's Day (St George’s Day) – Catalan Day of Love, Books & Roses starts in Christchurch, New Zealand on 23 April.

The local residents and visitors from Spain, UK, France, Ukraine, Chile, China, Taiwan, HongKong and India enjoy the celebration of ''a Rose for Love and a Book Forever'' at Christchurch central library.

The celebration organised by 2WAYS Co. is the first of its kind in New Zealand’s history. It’s also believed to be the furthest one on earth. It brings Catalan, Spaniard and Kiwi together to read, to talk, to present books and roses, to share love.

23 April is the day known in Catalan as La Diada de Sant Jordi and it is traditional to give a rose and a book to a loved one.

This tradition inspired UNESCO to declare this the International Day of the Book, since April 23, 1616 was also the date of death of both the English playwright William Shakespeare and the Spanish author Miguel de Cervantes.

A wide range of books, posters and DVDs about Sant Jordi's Day provided by the Catalan government (Dept. of Culture and Communication) are displayed at library till 30 April.
